The K53906HP high-performance shear bar (also known as a chopper cutter bar, forage harvester counter knife, stationary knife, or ledger bar) goes in front of the cutter head drum of a John Deere® SPFH harvester. This bar is used to create a cutting edge for the cutter drum knives to come across and cut the material being harvested. It can be used in corn or hay.

This bar features a welded carbide coating with a ground-sharp shear edge. Additional hard facing is applied to the center of the bar to prevent center wear before flipping the shear bar keeping the second side sharp and well protected. This bar is heat-treated and tungsten carbide coated. Install to factory settings, no special tools are required. Visually inspect for wear, a ragged cut or poor feeding is a good indication.

To install this knife, use hardware kit K64735HPBK. This bar is made to fit:

• To fit all 7200-7580 series harvesters
• To fit 6650, 6750, 6850, and 6950 series SN. 504992 & after
  • 6000 series must have 5 3/8" tall smooth roll scraper installed-K12818
