Each knife is manufactured in our Iowa plant using a high-carbon base material, then coated with a heavy layer of tungsten carbide, fused directly onto the blade. This process ensures that the knife maintains a sharp edge throughout its lifespan, as the blade self-sharpens while in use. Additionally, the knife is heat-treated to provide maximum durability and longevity. This knife is designed for cutting and mixing livestock rations, making it an essential tool for creating TMR (Total Mixed Ration), specifically for use in Kirby, and Maxi Mixer and Penta™ mixers. 

When installed, the knife is bolted to the screw of the mixer wagon, enabling it to cut rations and thoroughly mix the feed for your livestock.  Alternate knife with more serrations for more cutting K385001.

When to Replace the Knife:

•  Replace the knife when the edge starts to get dull and is no longer able to cut efficiently.
• Another indicator to replace the knife is when it takes 1.5 times your normal mixing time to complete the job. Increased mixing time is a sign that the knife is no longer performing optimally and may need replacement.
   

Installation:
 

•  The K385003 Knife installs easily using factory settings, with no special tools required. Simply bolt it to the screw of the mixer wagon.
• Mounting hardware is available, with options for K385002BK (grade 8) or K385002BK5 (grade 5).
