12-Row Header Adapter to fit John Deere® (6000 & 7000 Series)

The K00085 adapter implements a wider throat opening and recessed floor for improved feeding into the chopper feed rolls, resulting in higher chopping speeds. This adapter is designed for 12 and 8 row heads and comes with a black gearbox.

This adapter attaches to the front of a John Deere® 6000 and 7000 series self-propelled forage harvester to facilitate the connection between the harvester and a crop row header. Installation is as simple as hooking up any other implement, and the adapter can remain on the harvester or corn head when not in use. When leaving it on the corn head, you simply pick up the adapter/corn head and hook up the PTOs.

For optimal performance, the following items are recommended for use with the K00085 adapter:

• 8 or 12 row head compatibility.
• PTO K23TO23MALE shaft to drive the adapter with spline shaft FH002943.
• Use K6000KIT or K7000KIT to block up the feed rolls, depending on the forage harvester model.
• Highly recommend using bottom earlage pans to create a tunnel-like feed roll chamber.
• We suggest using a heavy-duty PTO shaft for the left-hand side of the earlage adapter to drive the cornhead (standard corn head PTO may shell out quickly).
• If the earlage adapter is not feeding properly, check the teeth on the upper rear feed roll. If the teeth are not sharp, they will not grab the corn cob and feed it into the cutter head.

The K00085 adapter is specifically designed for harvesting ears of corn using a row crop header to make earlage. Earlage is harvested later than silage, giving producers a longer working window and providing a product that reduces the amount of roughage needed in comparison to a corn-based ration. These adapters are extremely durable, with many customers reporting over 10 years of use before replacement, typically occurring when switching brands or upgrading their harvester.
