Left Hand Forage Harvester Grass Knife

The K84450406 is a left-hand grass knife designed to fit New Holland® FR series forage harvesters. This knife is essential for cutting forage during harvesting, working in conjunction with the shearbar to efficiently chop the material into small pieces suitable for livestock consumption.

Manufactured in Iowa, this knife is heat-treated and tungsten hard-faced, ensuring exceptional durability and an extended service life under heavy use. Designed with a sharp edge, it provides a precise fit for New Holland® forage harvesters, delivering a consistent forage length. The less intense angle of the grass knife allows it to handle rocks better, reducing chipping compared to corn knives. This makes it ideal for pickup work, including chopping hay, alfalfa, winter wheat, and cover crops.

Installation & Compatibility:

• Install following factory settings and torque bolts to recommended specifications.
• Requires bolt K87517126 or K84450505 when using baffles (K87368863) to protect the cutter drum (5 bolts per knife).
• 10 knives required for a 20-knife drum; 12 knives required for a 24-knife drum.
• Right-hand grass knife option: K84450407.
• For silage and earlage cutting, use corn knife options K84450404 and K84450405.

Replacement Guidelines:

Replace the knife when heavy chipping results in a longer cut length or when the tungsten carbide edge is worn down. Regularly inspect for wear to maintain cutting efficiency.
